Extra, extra!

Exciting things are happening at the salon!
Picture

Next, great things are in the works for a James Madison Salon and Scoutmob partnership! We'll keep you posted about our upcoming Hand-Picked deal.

First, a sneak peek of the plans for our upcoming renovation - due to be complete by the end of July. The salon will feature a completely redesigned street-accessible storefront and custom product displays from Bumble and bumble. We're getting a new style - but don't worry! All of our incredible stylists aren't changing a thing. (Except maybe their hair.)

What's in your kit?

A new weekly feature:
Our stylists talk about their favorite products and tools.
Jeremiah: "my favorite tools are my foiling combs, clips, any product by Bumble and bumble that's 'Color Minded,' and of course foils!"

And where would we be without James?
His dedication to making a difference in the hair industry with an entrepreneurial spirit and a beautiful staff inspires students and graduates to follow in his footsteps.

In January, James was the keynote speaker at the Esani Institute. He told students about the importance of education, hard work, and most of all, determination.

"My advice? Write your goals down. Without a plan, reaching your goals is like driving through New York City with no street signs. Create a roadmap to your own success."

The past few weeks, weather in Atlanta has been fickle. But now that dixie has settled on a steady toohot° we're adjusting our wardrobe and hair to have a beautiful glow - not look a hot mess.
A client's adorable Chanel wedges inspired this week's collection of looks.
Resort 2012 - with these styles, we can pretend for a moment we're headed to the coast for a getaway.

Blossoming Spring in Atlanta quickly draws out the carefree, sensual self that has been hiding for months under knit cowls and laced boots. It's time to rediscover our favorite places, reimagine our best looks, and rekindle our romance with the city.

Kevin Rathbun Steak

By far our favorite spot in Atlanta. The perfect NY Strip; unbeatable scallops. The sommelier, Clay, will forget more about wine than we'll ever know.

The Goat Farm

The up and coming Atlanta cultural center, in the heart of warehouse-chic West Midtown. Home to film screenings, art openings, and young, fresh energy.

La Tavola Trattoria

Strollers, suits, or sandals. The quiet-but-bustling Virginia Highlands boasts a variety of people and this classic Italian cuisine with the bonus of a lovely after-dinner stroll.

Unrestrained
is the Spring 2012 woman. Her hair is loose, natural, and full of texture in beigy, icy blondes, or gradual sunkissed ombré. She wears short hair tousled or long hair in a relaxed Parsienne bun. Her cropped, sheer tops, floral prints, and peplum accents finish her romantic, sensual image.

Tailored
is the motif for men in Spring 2012. He styles close, tapered, parted hair with a pomade or heavy wax for a shiny, smooth, polished look. The key to this cut is in the details. He keeps hair around the ears and neck trimmed regularly to maintain a polished, tailored style; emulates the sophistication of young Paris with oxfords and narrow-ankled pants (leave the socks).

2012 weddings are all about color.
Eggshell, ivory, pearl and linen will always be classic, but this year's bride has a taste for a modern twist.
Lavendar, midnight, sage, and mustard are the top picks for a stunning pop of color, especially for her bridesmaids.

“The Mad Men Effect” - redefining classic 1960s glamour.
Forget mimicking the celebrity style of the week. Trade in the magazine for a family photo album. Notice the dramatic tuck at the waist of your Grandmother’s printed A-line dress, the curls that perfectly frame her face, the sensual-yet-tame everyday updo. Or your Grandfather’s expertly tailored suit, perfectly fitted through the shoulders, matched with commanding horn-rimmed glasses and short, slick, deeply parted hair. This look has blossomed since the debut of AMC’s Mad Men in 2007.

Classic is not a passing trend. Vintage fits and prints may come and go, but the glamour that defines this era is all in the details - masculinity defined by the careful, purposeful part of close cut hair and a clean shave; femininity by the mysterious, playful exposure of the neck. Updos are no longer just for cocktail parties and boardrooms. The sensual, delicate lift of hair can add the perfect touch of femininity to any look.

With Wedding Season on the horizon, we have already caught ourselves daydreaming about new styles for 2012. This Sunday, some of our stylists will be attending A Bride For All Seasons, a room filled with Atlanta's best bridal experts at the Four Seasons. Additionally, our team will be doing hair and make-up for the Anne Barge models.

Jeremiah created this elegant up-do on Tanya.
See that lovely orchid in the background? Tim McKenzie, founder of Orchids Only, has been bringing his creations to the salon since the Holidays - and we can't get enough. The blooms stay absolutely gorgeous for weeks!
